A Birthday In Lockdown

I’m sure the majority of people who have had their birthdays during the lockdown, have had a fairly pleasant yet frustrating experience. Of which I mean, the frustration of not being able to see your family and friends, or to go out and celebrate. Which is where you attempt to replicate that experience, by researching cocktail recipes, baking your own cake, making each room in the house a different bar...In high-insight, it's a birthday to remember, purely because of the circumstance, that is lockdown.

In my experience, waking up and having the effort to even put on a pair of jeans, made the whole day more special. I even put on foundation and did my hair. Then spent the rest of the day, being tempted to change back into a pair of leggings and my dressing gown.

Eventually, I began drinking around midday, switching between Prosecco and a box of porn martini from Tesco. Sitting in the garden, socially distancing from my best friend (Who entered through the front gate, just saying). And ending the day, drunk and retiring to bed around 10 pm.

Then finishing the weekend with a virtual party over Zoom and a Sunday roast.

Overall, a successful birthday.

I did end up daydreaming about everything I would have been doing, over the next couple weeks, like planning an outfit for a night out, celebrating my friends birthday’s, family BBQ’s, bottomless brunches...sorry kind of zoned out there.

To be honest, this is one big appreciation post to all my friends and family, who made the whole weekend so much more significant, with the presents on my doorstep and cards I received in the post, so thank you!
